Moto3 Rider Rams Rival Off The Road In Moment Of Madness

This is one of the shocking sporting moments of the year so far. In the first practice run at the Argentinian Grand Prix, Aron Canet saw red and lost the plot. He deliberately caught up with his racing rival Makar Yurchenko and caused a collision, causing both of the riders to slide off the track and be put in danger.

The 18-year-old Spaniard who finished third in the Moto3 World Championship last season, was berated by his team, Estrella Galicia, who could not believe what the young man had done.

Incredibly, Canet seems to have got away with it after the FIM stewards have deemed the collision a racing incident. Many fans and pundits alike were calling for the teenager to receive the harshest possible punishment as he appeared to put Yurchenko and Canet’s safety in danger.

Moto GP has only recently returned to the South American country after a break of 15 years with the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit in the northern province of Santiago del Estero becoming the host venue for the Gran Premio de la Republica Argentina - a race that had previously been held in Buenos Aires.

This is Makar Yurchenko’s first season in Moto 3 and he could not have expected anything like this when he made the step up this year. The Kazakhstani rider was thankfully unhurt after the incident on a track that has seen its fair share of drama.

See the full incident below and decide for yourself whether or not Canet should have been banned.
