''Half As Bad As The Kompany One On Salah'' - Bitter Liverpool Fans Cry Foul Play As Willy Boly Sees Red Against Manchester City

''Half As Bad As The Kompany One On Salah'' - Bitter Liverpool Fans Cry Foul Play As Willy Boly Sees Red Against Manchester City

The big talking point during Monday Night Football came as Willy Boly saw red for a challenge midway through the first half which seemed to end any chance Wolves had at picking up a result against Man City.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers defender lunched in on Bernardo Silva and seemed to get the ball initially, but was given a straight red by the ref as he followed through and caught the City midfielder on the ankle with his studs showing.

The commentators and the majority of people of social media seemed to agree with the decision but not the Liverpool fans who seemingly haven't forgotten their recent clash at the Etihad.

The incident in question saw Vincent Kompany only see yellow despite having lunged at Mo Salah and caught the Egyptian forward with his studs up in what many saw as a straight red at the time,

On that occasion, the referee only dished out a yellow but in similar circumstances tonight, against the Premier League Champions, Boly was given his marching orders.

Liverpool are currently embroiled in a Premier League title race with Manchester City and the fans of the Anfield club took to social media to make their feelings known in no uncertain terms.

That #Boly challenge was about half as bad as the Kompany one on Salah the other day. At least he could say he touched the ball. #MCIWOL - (@blandsteve)

Everyone complains about the double standards Liverpool are facing but that challenge by Boly isn't as far as bad as Kompany's challenge on Salah #MCIWOL - (@JC_mabaso)

Had a few looks. Wolves should feel hard done by. Nothing different to the Kompany challenge. Looks worse as Silvas leg is planted & Salah was wise enough to jump. Inconsistent - (@TheOneLiam)

Kompany gets a yellow for a two footed off the floor scissor tackle as the last man and boly gets sent off for that, honestly - (@DHarrison200)

It is fair to say that the race for the title this season is starting to heat up with Man City and Liverpool set to do battle for the remainder of the campaign and with no love lost on social media between the fans, we could be set for an epic contest both on and off the pitch.
