Zach Johnson and Kevin Kisner top The Open Leaderboard after the opening two days play at Carnoustie.
2015 Open champ Johnson was in fine form after shooting a four-under-par 67 for the day, as he drew level with Thursday’s frontrunner Kisner, who dropped two shots on the 18th.
Fleetwood Fires
Three players are one shot behind the joint leaders, in Pat Perez, Xander Schauffele and Tommy Fleetwood, and the latter was the only player not to drop a shot in the second round, as he carded a scintillating 65.
Other big names in the frame include Rory McIlroy and Matt Kuchar (both -4), whereas defending champion Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler are both a further shot behind.
Tiger Watch
Tiger Woods missed a glorious chance to end the second day under par, but his birdie putt on the 18th drifted just wide of the hole. Tiger, being Tiger, will be livid at the miss, however while he may be six shots off the lead, he’s by no means out of contention, with a lot of golf still to be played in Scotland.
He’s 50/1 in the betting heading into the weekend.
Down And Out
There’s been a catalogue of high-profile exits after two days play.
Number one on that list is the World No.1 Dustin Johnson. The American had a complete shocker on Thursday, five-over-par 76, then dropped another shot on Friday, meaning he missed the cut by three shots, as did the two-time Masters winner Bubba Watson.
John Rahm was bang in contention on -3 (overall) after his opening six holes, but then proceeded to throw away six shots in his following three holes, and another two on the front nine, meaning he disappointingly missed out on the weekend.
Sergio Garcia, Hideki Matsuyama, Justin Thomas are also heading home early.
Meanwhile, double Open champion Padraig Harrington was eight over after two days, the 2011 victor Darren Clarke finished bottom of the barrel on +23, while Ian Poulter had a shocking second day as he slumped to -12 overall.
