A Dream To Share has won the Weatherbys Champion Bumper on Day Two of the Cheltenham Festival. The John Kiely-trained gelding closed out proceedings with a victory in the final race of Wednesday’s card. Willie Mullins’ Fact To File had started as the favourite but it was A Dream To Share who clinched the victory.
While Fact To File had to settle for second, 40/1 outsider Captain Teague came in third. All the attention will go to A Dream To Share though, who was guided by 18-year-old debutant John Gleeson. The teenage jockey is already being tipped as a future star, with this triumph being viewed as the first of many.
Trainer Willie Mullins has made this race something of a speciality in the past, racking up 12 wins. Fact To File was one of ten charges he had in this race, but it is John Kiely who can add the Champions Bumper to his mantle this afternoon.
Meanwhile there was a touching moment for the Caldwell family. Vincent, owner of Captain Cody, fulfilled a promise to his late father Charles by ensuring the family colours finally appeared here at Cheltenham. Sometimes it really isn’t about the winning as much as it is about the taking part.
1st. A Dream To Share (7/2)
2nd. Fact To File (16/5)
3rd. Captain Teague (40/1)
