Liverpool are currently deep in the middle of a Premier League title race and they could set to receive a massive boost with the news that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is on the verge of a return.

The former Arsenal star made a massive impact in a Liverpool shirt last season as the Reds went all the way to the Champions League but he has been out for close to a year after injuring his knee against Roma.

The England International will make his return to football this week with a game for the U23 team in the mini Derby against Everton on a Monday night a distinct possibility according to the Liverpool Echo.

A game against Derby on Friday for the second team is the other option with one of the two matches ear marked as a the return date which will delight Jurgen Klopp ahead of a busy run of games over the next month.

The news could be just the tonic the Liverpool squad needs as they look to make history in the Premier League and in Europe with the away leg against Bayern Munich also on the horizon.
