Barcelona welcome Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven to the Nou Camp tonight as clear favourites to take the first three points of Group B in the opening round of the Champions League. Ernesto Valverde’s side are currently backed at an incredibly short 1/9.

The blaugrana are chocked full of talent from top to bottom; Marc-Andre Ter Stegen between the sticks up to the peerless Lionel Messi in attack. Most teams would struggle to hide their being intimidated, and whilst most footballers would undoubtedly desire to join arguably the best team in Europe, few are chosen.

One player however who will be gagging to make the most with facing Barca tonight for PSV is their star striker, Hirving Lozano.

The 22 year-old had his best season with PSV in 2017/18, where he won the league and scored 17 goals in 29 games and subsequently went on to demonstrate his illustrious talent on the world stage, as his sincere work ethic, wing play, and rampaging runs for Mexico. Memorably he provided the decisive goal in El Tri’s opening victory against defending World Cup champions Germany.

Lozano has already made a scintillating start to the new season, scoring four in five and providing an assist to help PSV made an unbroken start to retaining their Dutch crown: maximum points from the fixtures so far to once again leave them atop the Eredivisie table.

Furthermore, his form has said to have peaked the interest of his opponents tonight, and with Lozano having already expressed his desire to join the La Liga champions, Eindhoven fans may have to make the most of seeing the Mexican play at the Philips Stadion;

“My agent told me that there was interest from Barcelona,”

he said, as reported by Marca.

“It would be a dream to come to this great club, when I was little I had a Barcelona poster in my room. It’s very emblematic for everyone.”

A superb performance tonight may lead Lozano to be calling the Nou Camp ‘home turf’ sometime in the near future.
