The Sergio Ramos stamp saga seems to have been put to bed after the man himself took to Twitter to show an alternative angle of the incident between the defender and England’s two-goal hero Raheem Sterling.
Original footage appeared to show Ramos stamp his foot down on the floored Sterling who subsequently coiled back in pain.
Both social media users and us here at The Sportsman were quick to slam Ramos’ behaviour, but now as it turns out our comments seemed rather foolish.
The new clip from Ramos clearly shows that the Real Madrid superstar DID NOT stamp on the Man City player, who got a shot of cramp at the exact moment Ramos came past.
The 32-year-old accompanied the tweet with the message:
'Nothing else to say,' along with the thinking face and zipped mouth emojis.
Ramos scored the final goal of the game but in truth it was a real night to forget for both the defender and Spain who suffered a first competitive home defeat since 2003, as England came out on top 3-2 in Seville.
Ramos will return to club football this weekend when his under-performing Real Madrid take on Levante at the Bernabeu, where they’ll be looking to bounce back from a wretched four-game winless run which includes three defeats and no goals scored.
Should Los Blancos fail to carve out a win it could well prove to be the end for boss Julen Lopetegui, who only took over in the summer following the departure of the highly successful Zinedine Zidane.
