Chelsea are ready to go head-to-head with Arsenal for the signing of Roma's £44m-rated star Cengiz Under as they look to bolster their squad in a push for silverware.

According to CalcioMercato, Chelsea are pushing for a player-plus-cash deal to secure the signing of Under, involving £35m up front and they are willing to let either Anders Christiansen or Callum Hudson-Odoi move in the opposite direction.

Christiansen has become increasingly frustrated at his lack of first-team opportunities under manager Maurizio Sarri, while Hudson-Odoi recently admitted that he would be willing to leave the Premier League and move abroad in order to aid the development of his own career.

The Blues will face a battle for the highly-rated Under though as Arsenal have also been linked with a move for a player who has made a huge impression since moving to Serie A.

Gunners boss Unai Emery is keen to increase his options on the right-side of his attack and Under would appear to fit the bill perfectly.

The 21-year-old joined Roma from Basaksehir in 2017 and enjoyed a decent first season in Serie A, scoring seven league goals and laying on one assist in 26 appearances.

Under has really come to the fore this season though, scoring one goal and providing three assists in ten league games, and he has been very impressive in the Champions League, scoring two goals and effecting two assists in four outings.

Under's fine form for Roma has seen him become a regular for the Turkish national team and he is likely to be a sought after player when the transfer window reopens in January.
