Arsenal Host Out Of Form Newcastle Aiming To Get Back To Winning Ways
10:30, 15 Dec 2017

When is it?

Saturday 16th December, with kick-off at 3:00pm at the Emirates Stadium.

Which channel can I watch it on?

It’s not available to watch live in the UK. You can follow through The Sportsman’s live score trackers.

Arsenal

Did not imagine they would come into this game below Burnley at the beginning of the season, especially after they managed to get the better of them at Turf Moor just a couple of weeks ago. Since then their away day blues have come back, with back to back draws against Southampton and West Ham taking the momentum out of what had been a strong run of form.

Making the most of their chances continues to be a problem for the Gunners; They scored just once from 33 shots against Manchester United (albeit repelled by the magic of David De Gea), and had 22 against West Ham, but could put only three on target, with the hosts making them go narrow and taking out the width that the likes of Hector Bellerin like to exploit.

Newcastle

Suddenly rather unsteady. Well not suddenly, having started the season relatively well before collapsing to a run of seven defeats in eight games, the latest coming at a resurgent Everton with Wayne Rooney hitting the winner. Their last visit to London (and their last away trip) was a 3-1 defeat to Chelsea, having taken the lead quite early, and this looks just as daunting.

Head To Head

The last time these two were in the Premier League Arsenal did the double over them twice in one season, both with 1-0 wins; The season before they won 2-1 at St James’s Park, and then 4-1 at the Emirates.

Team News

Jack Wilshere was handed a first league start by Arsene Wenger for the first time in 577 days against West Ham and was one of the better midfielders, so do not be surprised to see him start once again. Shkodran Mustafi and Aaron Ramsey are set to miss the meeting with injuries.

Newcastle

Jonjo Shelvey’s run-ins with referees continued as he was sent off on Wednesday and he’s suspended for three games.

Likely Starting XI’s:

Arsenal: Cech, Bellerin, Koscielny, Monreal, Kolasinac, Elneny, Xhaka, Iwobi, Ozil, Sanchez, Lacazette

Newcastle: Darlow, Yedlin, Lascelles, Lejeune, Manquillo, Diame, Merino, Ritchie, Murphy, Atsu, Gayle
