It is becoming increasingly popular for young English players to move abroad to develop their game and Arsenal's Stephy Mavididi is reportedly the latest player to head for foreign climes as he is set to complete a move to Juventus.

According to Sky Sports, the 20-year-old forward has flown to Italy to complete a medical and could be a Serie A player by the weekend.

Mavididi is yet to represent the full Arsenal team but has caught the attention of Juventus scouts following loan spells with Preston and Charlton, as well as with his 21 goals in 41 appearances for the Arsenal under-21 side.

The centre-forward has previously represented England from under-17 through to under-20 level and he is seen as a player of some potential.

Mavididi looks set to be the latest English footballer to ply his trade abroad and it is becoming an increasingly popular trend, with Chelsea's Jonathan Panzo opting to ditch the club that nurtured him in favour of a move to AS Monaco recently.

Jordan Sancho impressed for Borussia Dortmund last season and the former Manchester City starlet was even talked about as a left-field pick for Gareth Southgate's England squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, although such rumours proved unfounded.

Still, Sancho is seen as a potential senior international of the future and many English youngsters will be buoyed by the fact that they are able to gain recognition whilst playing senior football at club level in another country. A case in point is 16-year-old Noni Madueke, who left Tottenham and snubbed Manchester United in favour of a move to Dutch side PSV Eindhoven.

It will be intriguing to see whether Mavididi can make an impression at Juventus.
