Perhaps surprisingly, we are into the third month of the season and there has yet to be a Premier League managerial casualty.
This could soon change however, with a number of top-flight gaffers under-fire, including Man Utd manager Jose Mourinho, the winless duo of Neil Warnock and Rafa Benitez, and Southampton’s Mark Hughes.
Should a vacancy open up could we soon see the eagerly anticipated return of former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger?
The longest-serving manager in the history of the Premier League has revealed to German newspaper Bild when he plans to be back in football.
“I believe I will start again on January 1," said Wenger.
“I don’t know where yet. I feel rested and am ready to work again.
“There are associations, national teams, it could also be in Japan. From my 22 years at Arsenal, I have big experience on different levels. There are enquiries from all over the world.”
Infuriatingly the Frenchman has not revealed where he will return, but recent reports have hotly linked him with a move to PSG, as the club's director of football to manager Thomas Tuchel.
Meanwhile, he’s a 40/1 shot to replace Mourinho at Old Trafford, 14/1 for Real Madrid, 20/1 for Barcelona, while there could soon be managerial vacancies opening up at Bayern Munich and the German national team.
But here at The Sportsman we hope it’s the Premier League he opts for!
