Arturo Vidal Could Be Set For £31M Premier League Switch

The mohawked Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal has been a controversial presence at times during his career and might be set to make another switch.

The German news outlet Bild reported yesterday that the Bayern Munich man was among a string of players that the German champions are actively looking to let go.

They claim that Thiago Alcantara, Jerome Boateng, Juan Bernat, Sebastian Rudy and Arturo Vidal have been offered to Premier League clubs as well as others as the club look to trim a bit of fat from their wage under their new boss Niko Kovač.

Manchester United had an attempt to bring the 31-year-old to Old Trafford fail when he moved to Bavaria from Juventus three years ago, while Chelsea have made several enquiries about the player through the years.

A fiery but technical presence in the middle of the park, reports in Germany suggest he could be available for as little as £31M. He would, of course, command a hefty wage packed on top of that and has had a string of behavioural problems be well-documented through the years, but that does strike as a potential bargain price for a player of his quality.

Jose Mourinho has long been a public admirer of the player, a centurion for his country, who operated well in tandem with Paul Pogba during their time together in Turin.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have signed a central midfielder already this summer in the form of £53M man Jorginho but there could be room in that department in Stamford Bridge, with Tiemoue Bakayoko, Danny Drinkwater and Ross Barkley all linked to moves away from the club after underwhelming showings last term.
