As Sven Mislintat Gets Ready To Leave Arsenal We Score Every Signing Out Of Ten

It's been pretty quiet on the transfer window so far this January, nowhere more so than in North London. Tottenham, who were the only club not to add to their squad last summer have yet to bring anyone in this month despite a growing injury list which includes Harry Kane, Lucas Moura and Dele Alli, whilst Hyeung-min Son is away on International duty with South Korea in the Asia Cup.

Arsenal too are having a tough January, but for different reasons. There's been a growing discontent at the Emirates since their league win over rivals Tottenham last month. A timely win over Chelsea at the weekend has covered up a patchy period that has seen Manchester United catch them up in the league, whilst the club confirmed today that influential Head of Recruitment, Sven Mislintat will be leaving Arsenal less than 14 months after joining the Gunners.

Fans have reacted to the news with unhappiness, but has his record in the transfer window actually been that good?

Since joining Arsenal in December of 2017, the German has been key in getting all eight signings to the club, but the list has been hit and miss and there's been as many good signings as bad.

We score all the signings Mislintat's been involved in since his move to the Emirates:

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - Let's start with the best. The Gabon live-wire was familiar to Mislintat from his time at Borussia Dortmund and he's not stopped scoring for Arsenal over the last twelve months. Aubamewang has scored 26 goals in 41 games for the Gunners since his arrival but we're docking a point due to his price, £56 million for a 29 year old is steep enough and despite all of the goals, Arsenal's record when he's played is only a smidge over 50%. 9/10

Henrikh Mkhitaryan - The German went back to the Borussia Dortmund well again for this swap deal involving Alexis Sanchez. The pair linked up to great effect when at Dortmund but the Armenian has never really taken to the Premier League. Bar the odd glimpse during his time at Man Utd and Arsenal, he's far too inconsistent and has been unable to nail down a starting role in a team that should be made for him. 6/10.

Unai Emery - Mislintat is said to have been very influential in the signing of Emery as replacement to long term zip puller Arsene Wenger and after good start the Spaniard's popularity is slightly on the wane and the German leaving won't help him much either. 8/10.

Sokratis - The Greek bruiser was brought in to sure up a leaky Arsenal defence but injuries to other players across the back line have left his job almost impossible. It looks like he's got a few more tough months ahead. 7/10.

Bernd Leno - Another Bundesliga import, Leno ousted Petr Cech from the team and into retirement at the end of the season. He's better than Cech with his feet and he's probably a better keeper all round than the former Chelsea man, but he is half his age. Arsenal fans remain unconvinced. 6/10.

Matteo Guendouzi - The Frenchman was an unknown when Mislintat plucked him from Ligue 2 Lorient for a modest £7m fee. Although he's pretty rough around the edges (and if it wasn't for the hair I'm not sure he'd have a sniff of the first team), there's potential. 7/10.

Lucas Torreira - Along with Aubameyang, the Uruguayan midfielder has been the pick of the signings. Diminutive in stature, Lucas Torreira is as feisty as he is small and his performance in the North London Derby in December already confirmed him as a club legend. 9/10.

Konstantinos Mavropanos - Okay, not all signings can be out of the top draw and although only £1.8m was spent on the Greek centre-back, he's yet to make an impact at the Emirates. An inauspicious start saw him sent off in a defeat to Leicester before Arsenal's long unbeaten run and he's been sidelined since through injury. 5/10.

Stephan Lichtsteiner - The one real fly in the signing ointment during the last twelve months has been the 35 Swiss internatinal. A rampaging full back during his time at Juventus, but those days seem a long, long time ago and Arsenal fans are now going to get a taste of him on a weekly basis as they face a defensive injury crisis. 3/10.

Aaron Ramsey - One thing going in Mislintat's favour was his desire to keep Aaron Ramsey at the club. The Welshman hasn't always been a fan's favourite but he offers something from midfield that nobody else can at the club. Ramsey's dynamism is going to be sorely missed and it'll be interesting to see how he gets on in Italy. 4/10.

So there you have it. Arsenal fans are pretty shaken up about the German's departure but to be honest there's probably deeper lying issues as to regards the club's finances than worrying to much about who is in charge of recruitment. Sven Mislintat 68/100
