The Sportsman has, with great gusto, enthusiastically jumped on the Ryder Cup bandwagon.
We gathered together a motley crew, a rag tag bunch to put it delicately, to journey over to the historic - nay, iconic - Heaton Park in Greater Manchester and play a round of golf in celebration of the 42nd Ryder Cup.
The six willing volunteers were assigned into the appropriate sides: Team USA and Team Europe, based on age, status, and - most importantly - lack of golfing ability.
The players were tasked with coming up with their own individual nickname and handicap. But for all the jokes and quick asides, the competitiveness was real.
But it wasn’t going to be as simple as playing a mere round of golf. Because we enjoy a drink as much as the next person, we decided to put a different spin on the game, taking it upon ourselves to incorporate a good crate of cider into the three rounds to make it even more difficult for our challengers.
Watch as our players sweat, bleed, end up a little bit p*ssed, and literally get their pants pulled down as they try to compete for the illustrious Sportsman Cider Cup.
So if you like decimated apples being sent into the stratosphere, excruciatingly high socks, fantastic Happy Gilmore impressions, and dubious man-buns be sure to give the video a watch below.
The 2018 Ryder Cup begins on the 28th September 2018 at Paris National, France and you can follow it all at The Sportsman, providing extensive coverage throughout the week.
