Aston Villa Captain Jack Grealish Punched In The Head By Birmingham Pitch Invader

This is disgraceful. In the opening few minutes of the Second City derby, with the scores level at 0-0, Jack Grealish has been assaulted on the pitch. As the ball went out of play for a throw-in and play was waiting to restart, a pitch invader ran onto the pitch and lamped the Aston Villa captain in the back of the head, sending him to the floor.

This is one of the most disgraceful things we have seen on a football pitch this season as Grealish was not even looking and the man, leapt over the barriers, to smack the Villa captain. Luckily, Grealish was back up within seconds and was met with players from both sides checking if he was okay.

The Birmingham fan scarpered but was quickly accosted by a steward and taken away. This has taken the shine of what was building up to be a cracking derby, with both sides playing well and the stadium packed full, with a great atmosphere.

Villa can go above their fierce rivals with a win today whilst, Birmingham who have been playing well in recent weeks under Garry Monk still have slim hopes of a play-off finish, as they sit just five points off the top six. A win here would make that gap just two points.

However, whatever the result ends up being we have already seen the talking point for this game and it has marred the whole derby. This Birmingham fan is a disgrace to football and should never be allowed to watch a match live again.
