Barcelona Could Pay €5million To Rush Through PSG Star's Move

Adrien Rabiot could leave for Barcelona for around €5million according to Mundo Deportivo despite the fact the player would be free in the summer.

The PSG midfielder has effectively been frozen out as talks about his future continue to cloud his stay in Paris.

Rabiot is out of contract next summer and PSG have made it very clear that they are unimpressed with the way the player has engineered the current situation to his advantage. They are happy to allow Rabiot to leave next month and at least get something back on the player.

Liverpool, Manchester City, Juventus and Bayern Munich have been linked with him in the past but a move to Barca looks to be Rabiot's preferred next move. Barcelona wanted Rabiot to be part of the deal which saw Neymar leave for PSG but it proved too complicated. Despite the move collapsing, Rabiot remained on Barcelona's wishlist.

Mundo Deportivo reports that the player's mother has been asking for more money and the deal which once looked watertight is now the subject of some doubt. Paris United says Rabiot wants to leave the French capital as soon as possible rather than face six months without playing. But for this to happen, Barcelona would have to pay a fee of around €5million which the club would try to recoup by having the player sacrifice a chunk of his wages.

Rabiot's arrival would certainly boost Barcelona's midfield at a critical time of the season and prove an unexpected tonic for Ernesto Valverde.
