Could Liverpool lose yet another of their best players to Barcelona? Having watched Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho swap Anfield for the Camp Nou in recent years, rumours are circulating that Lionel Messi wants Barca to bring Mohamed Salah to La Liga.
Salah was a revelation for the Reds last season, scoring 44 goals, and he has started to find form this term, with the Egyptian notching his fifth Premier League goal of the campaign in Saturday's resounding 4-1 win over Cardiff City.
However, the victory has been soured somewhat by rumours coming out of Spain that have suggested Barcelona's talisman, Messi, is keen for the Catalan giants to make Salah their No. 1 target.
According to Don Balon (via 247 Dynamic Sports), Liverpool are resigned to losing Salah next summer and Messi wants Barcelona to secure his services.
Ironically, Salah might well be seen as a replacement for another former Reds forward as Suarez has scored just four goals in thirteen appearances for Barca this season and there is a growing feeling that his powers are on the wane.
The La Liga champions would relish the opportunity to sign the 26-year-old Salah as he is still in the prime of his career, although Don Balon suggest Barca will need to sell assets in order to raise funds for any potential move for Salah.
The Spanish media outlet have suggested that Ousmane Dembele could be offered to Liverpool as part of a swap-deal, with Dembele yet to nail down a regular first team place. The 21-year-old has scored five goals in eleven appearances for Barca this season, although he has continually been linked with a move away from the club.
Would Dembele cushion the potential departure of Salah? It remains to be seen as Liverpool battle to stop Barcelona from snapping up their most important player, yet again...
