Barcelona Make Last Ditch Move To Sign Brazilian Star And It Could Have A Big Impact On Chelsea

Barcelona have come from nowhere to put their name into the ring to sign Brazil star Malcom, despite an agreement having been reached with Roma. The Spanish giants have moved to bring Malcom to the club at the 11th hour, which could see their pursuit of Chelsea’s Willian end.

Bordeaux have confirmed their star man will be leaving and released a statement on Monday saying: "FC Girondins de Bordeaux informs you that an agreement has been reached, subject to the signature of the administrative documents, with AS Roma for the transfer of Malcom."

Sky in Italy now report that the deal is not yet completed and Barcelona have entered the race to sign the 21-year-old forward, who scored 12 goals in 38 games last season in Ligue 1.

This deal should be taken at face value but Barcelona could be expressing their interest in another forward to encourage Chelsea to fast forward the Willian sale. The Blues are thought to want £70m for their Brazilian winger but could use him as a powerful bargaining tool for a possible switch for Anthony Martial.

Roma will be angered by Barcelona’s pursuit of their target who looked set to sign for the Serie A side. This could just be a ruse for them to force a deal through for Willian, but if Barcelona want Malcom they might just get him. This transfer could change not only Barcelona and Roma's transfer windows for next season but Chelsea could have a much-changed team if Barcelona miss out on Malcom.
