Luis Suarez was back to his brilliant best during the first of Barcelona's two wins over Real Madrid during this past week but it is clear that the La Liga giants will need to start planning for life without the 32-year-old forward.
Suarez again tormented Real during the 3-0 win over in the Copa Del Rey as another fine season looks set to end with yet more silverware, on both a personal and team level. Despite receiving plenty of criticism and batting away rumours of a move abroad of late, Suarez is still producing the goods.
Suarez's goal returns have been diminishing though as his tally in the past four seasons have dropped from 40 to 29 to 25, and he has 16 so far this term.
However, he turns 33 next year and it is a big ask for him to keep producing the goods twice a week or more, and Barca should be looking for a potential replacement.
A readymade replacement for Suarez would be the Eintracht Frankfurt forward Luka Jovic, who has been in electric form this season.
The 21-year-old started his career at Red Star Belgrade before joining Benfica in February 2016. The Serbian starlet has spent the last two seasons on loan with Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, scoring nine goals in 27 games last season and 21 goals in 32 appearances this season.
Jovic, who has been linked with Manchester City, has averaged a goal every 89 minutes in the Bundesliga and Europa League this term, helping Frankfurt reach the quarter-finals of the European competition.
The Serbian, who represented his country at the World Cup last summer, can play anywhere in a front-three or as an attacking midfielder and he looks to be an ideal fit for Barcelona.
Bigger things await the 21-year-old and he could be an ideal replacement for Suarez when old 'father time' catches up with the brilliant Uruguayan.
