Bayern Munich have secured the signature of the much-coveted full-back Benjamin Pavard, a breakout star of the French national team's victorious World Cup campaign.
The Stuttgart man has a €35M release clause in his contract with his club that would allow him to move in the summer of 2019.
German media outlet SWR have reported that the Bavarian giants, Bayern, have activated that clause.
The 22-year-old may be making the switch sooner than that, though, with the same reports suggesting that the club are keen to work out a way to bring the World Cup winner to Bavaria this summer.
Asked about his future on his return home to France he was asked about what his prospects for the future are, and is quoted by Eurosport as being rather non-committal: “We will see, for now I am in Stuttgart, I do not know where I will be. am very, very happy in Stuttgart ".
While the Bundesliga champions and the player might be keen on working out a solution, the Stuttgart sporting director Michael Reschke doesn’t appear to be in the same mind. "We would gladly give up a lot of money to have him play an extra year with us," he said.
Pavard overcame a slightly shaky start against Australia to establish himself as an accomplished performer during the progress of Les Bleus through the tournament.
His scything volleyed goal against Argentina was nominated as one of the FIFA goals of the tournament and became something of a social media sensation, shining more spotlight on Pavard as he continued his remarkable ascent over the past couple of years.
