''Be Careful What You Wish For'' - Smug Celtic Fans Delight In Brendan Rodgers' Misery As Leicester Slump To Watford Defeat

Brendan Rodgers received plenty of criticism for his decision to leave Celtic in the lurch in order to become Leicester City boss and his first game in charge of the Foxes ended in despair, much to the delight of fans of his former employers.

Rodgers took charge of Leicester for the first time on Sunday but his side slumped to a 2-1 Premier League defeat against Watford, with Kasper Schmeichel's late error ensuring Jamie Vardy's equaliser had been on vain.

The defeat means Rodgers is still yet to win his first game at a new club - two draws, two defeats - and fans north of the border were delighting in the early set back for their former manager.

The first meme on Twitter came in reply to Leicester City's official Twitter account announcing the result...

Celtic fans were all over the Leicester City Twitter page...

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha (Followed by snake emojis) [@IainDargie1967]

Bhoys fans had already let Rodgers know what they thought of him last week when they unfurled a banner during their win at Hearts which read, 'You swapped immortality for mediocrity. Never a Celt, always a fraud'.

Rodgers out. [@RealOllyPots]

How long before Rodgers is as unpopular with the Leicester fans as he is with the Celtic fans right now? #WATLEI [@BenKearns5]

Even Manchester United fans were getting in on the trolling!

But it was definitely the Celtic fans who won Twitter with a vast array of comical memes, vines and 'bantz'. It's fair to assume that they're not willing to forgive and forget just yet, and their weekend was made all the sweeter as Rodgers' replacement at Celtic Park, Neil Lennon, started his latest reign with a 2-0 win at Hibernian on Saturday.

The Celtic Tweets aimed in the direction of Rodgers were incessant on Sunday afternoon...

Leicester's defeat really was a gift that just kept giving for Celtic fans on Sunday...

With our very own social team getting in on the action...
