Thorbjorn Olesen clinched the Betfred British Masters title with an incredible 35-foot putt on the 18th hole at The Belfry. The Dane finished in spectacular fashion to take home his first European Tour title since the 2018 Italian Masters.
Olesen took a three-shot lead into the final day’s play, but a difficult Sunday eroded his advantage. Olesen trailed by two going into the final two holes, with former European Masters champion Sebastian Soderberg breathing down his neck.
Olesen fired back with a 30-foot eagle at the 17th, before his theatrics to take home the prize on the final hole. Soderberg could only par the 18th, after a poor tee shot left him with work to do. It was a quite brilliant comeback from Olesen, and an exhilarating finish to proceedings at the iconic Belfry.
Scotland’s Richie Ramsay finished joint-third with Justin Walters and countryman Connor Syme. Tournament host Danny Willett finished tied for 16th place, ending his Masters with a one-under 71.
Attention now turns to the PGA Championship, which kicks off in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the famous Southern Hills Country Club on 19th May.
