It is certainly an exciting time to be a Real Madrid fan once again after Zinedine Zidane returned to the dugout to take charge of the first team once more. That means things are going to change at the Santiago Bernabeu, as this season is bound to end trophyless, and that simply is not good enough for a club of Real Madrid’s stature and heritage.

The squad they have does seem to be full of ageing legs and although those legs carried them to four Champions League titles in five years, that era has now come to an end. Fresh blood needs bringing in, big names need signing to finally replace Cristiano Ronaldo who departed last summer,

Madrid-based publication Marca published a series of polls to try and work out how the fans were feeling after the appointment of Zinedine Zidane and they have come up with some conclusive results.

The most interesting part of this questionnaire is the question that asks fans to choose which signing should be Zidane’s priority. Unfortunately for Chelsea fans, Eden Hazard came out well on top with a huge 31% of the votes, way more than any other player on the list. In second place was PSG superstar Neymar who has looked like his whole career has been building up to wearing the famous white shirt at the Bernabeu picked up 9 percent of the votes.

Tottenham duo Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen are third and fourth in the list with the England striker getting 5% of the vote, and the Dane 2%. Paul Pogba, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane received the remainder of the votes going to the ‘other’ category.

The other questions revealed 79% of those surveyed believe attack is the main position Madrid need to improve and that Gareth Bale is the biggest loser from Zidane’s appointment, receiving 45% of the vote in that question.
