A punter who placed a whopping £20k bet on Tyson Fury has been outdone by an even bigger hitter who has taken the side of the ‘Gypsy King’ in his bout with Deontay Wilder in LA on Saturday.

It’s his fellow boxer and close friend of Fury, Billy Joe Saunders, who’s had a mammoth punt on him doing the business.

The former WBO middleweight champ strolled into a Ladbrokes shop and had a cool £70k on his old mate Fury to do the business at the Staples Centre.

In a video that’s been doing the rounds on social media, having been posted by Saunders to his own Instagram page, he’s shown to have on two separate bets - one at £50k and one at £20k, both at odds of 11/8 - on the former unified champ maintaining his unbeaten record.

That means he stands to win a sum total of £166,250 should his bet cash.

Saunders and Fury, as mentioned above, are close friends and the middleweight had a role to play in bringing ‘The Gypsy King’ back from the brink during his time out of the ring.

Fury battled with addiction and mental health problems during his two-year hiatus but a trip to Marbella to accompany during training camp led to Fury eventually getting his career back on track.

It was there he sparked his relationship with new trainer Ben Davidson, who has led him on the comeback trail with two tune-up fights ahead of this step up back to the big time.
