Boxer Mason Cartwright suffered some horrific injuries in his WBO European welterweight title fight last night and Darren Tetley last night.

They resulted in him losing his fight after it was stopped in the ninth round and he took to Twitter to show off the damage he’d been done during the bout.

In some footage that is not in any way for the faint-hearted, he shows the camera his swollen face before turning to reveal the laceration to his lip that’s left part of it, quite literally, hanging loose.

The Cheshire native, who is known as “nutty” suffered the first defeat of his 15-fight professional career, and was visibly distraught when the referee stepped in to end the fight on doctor’s advice.

The 25-year-old had had the better of many of the opening rounds but was put on his back by Tetley in the seventh as the Bradford boxer began to gain a footing in the fight.

Nutty used Twitter after the fight to express his disappointment in the way things panned out.

“If it was up to me I would have faught (sic) the 10th round all day, show my boxing ability I’ll be back,' he said.

The bout was fought in front of a capacity 25,000 crowd at Elland Road, the home of Leeds United Football Club, on the undercard of the title fight between Lee Selby and Leeds-native Josh Warrington, which Warrington won in gritty fashion.

Take a look at the damage that these fighters can do to themselves below if you’re fit for it.
