Brilliant Alpha Centauri Could Be Heading To The USA As Stunning Season Continues

Alpha Centauri could be aimed at the Breeders Cup Mile following yet another brilliant success.

The Jessica Harrington trained filly has swept all before her with four successive wins and once again looked untouchable on Sunday afternoon as she scooted to victory in the Prix Jacques Le Marois.

It was yet another dominating display from the daughter of Mastercraftsman and she is quickly becoming the horse of the season during a flat summer which has failed to spark into life.

For a trainer who is moire used to excelling over the jumps, this has clearly been a thrilling ride with a special horse and there could still be much more to come given the way she has improved with every run recently.

Four Group 1 victories on the spin have rocketed the horse into the headlines and the end goal of a Breeders Cup Mile tilt remains possible. Connections of he horse have a long history with the end of season fixture in the States with Miesque doing the Jacques le Marois/Breeders Cup Mile all the way back in 1987.

Before any trip to Churchill Downs can be booked there is the small matter of a homecoming contest at Leopardstown with the Matron Stakes the most likely next stop for the exceptional three-year-old.

The flat season has failed to ignite in 2018 but in Alpha Centauri racing fans finally have another superstar to follow through the remainder of the year and the possibilities remain mouthwatering.

Few trainers can match the popularity of Jessica Harrington and we could be in for a thrilling Autumn as the Cheltenham Gold Cup winning handler ponders the possibility of spending the first weekend of November in Kentucky, instead of Down Royal.
