Bryson DeChambeau attempted to replicate Phil Mickelson's amazing 'flop-shot' on Wednesday but it didn't quite go to plan...
Mickelson's flop-shot during the build-up to the Open Championship earlier this week became a viral sensation as he managed to fire a stunning stunt shot over the head of former golfer Gary Evans from close range on Tuesday, and DeChambeau tried his luck at Carnoustie.
DeChambeau gave it a go with Sky Sports presenter Richard Beem in front of him on Wednesday, although he started by admitting that he couldn't believe what Mickelson had done.
DeChambeau's first attempt to lob the ball over the crouching Beem hit a golf bag that the Sky Sports presenter had tactically placed in front of him for protection. The second went slightly higher but ended with the same result before the third shot went off into the distance... DeChambeau called it a day there.
"You're not going to use that shot on the course?" asked Beem.
DeChambeau has been struggling with a shoulder injury of late as he was forced to withdraw from the defence of his John Deere Classic title last week and the two-time PGA Tour winner is making only his second appearance at The Open Championship this week.
The 24-year-old Californian missed the cut at Royal Birkdale twelve months ago and he will be hoping for better when he takes to Carnoustie (DeChambeau tees off with Tiger Woods and Shubhankar Sharma at 3.10pm on Thursday).
