Bubba Watson And The 4 Biggest Ryder Cup Fashion Fails

The Ryder Cup has always provided great golf, wonderful courses, drama, excitement, and a crowd like no other.

However, the biennial event has also provided its fair share of fashion blunders and the eccentric Bubba Watson has come to the fore with his latest additions to a long line of fashion faux-pas from the USA Team...

2018 - Bubba Watson And That Glove
Bubba Watson has history with France. He made it clear that he hated pretty much everything about the country when he played the Open de France in 2011, complaining about poor fan behaviour and seeming unimpressed by the country's landmarks during a brief visit.

"I miss my home," the Florida native said when he was in Paris seven years ago.

Watson has taken a different approach to take the focus away from his distaste for French culture this time though, by wearing a glove during his pre-Ryder Cup interviews. The 39-year-old rocked up to his interview on Wednesday donning a blue glove and said,

I said I’ve got to wear my glove the whole interviews. So I’m doing it.

"Got to have something to do. Golf gets boring after a while. It’s a long year, we’re all tired. … Just being dumb with the team."

2018 - Ryder Cup Ring
As is tradition, the players of both the European and American teams often receive a gift before the big event. This year's American Ryder Cup ring is something else though.

A mix between an NFL ring, something you might find at your local market stall, and a tacky piece that you win on the 'grab' machine at your local arcade, it is perhaps the ugliest piece of jewellery ever seen on a human hand. Bubba seemed to like it mind.

2010 - Non-Waterproof Coats
Team USA were in desperate need of coats at Celtic Manor in 2010. The ones they brought with them weren't up to standard as the American players were drenched through and they ended up having to buy different coats from a merchandise tent on the Friday.

1999 - THAT Shirt
USA may have won the 1999 Ryder Cup at Brookline but fashion was the big loser. The shirt was riddled with historical pictures that couldn't have been more 1990's if it tried.

Unfortunately, 'The Battle of Brookline will forever be marred by the loutish behaviour of the American players and fans when they stormed the 17th green, with Jose Maria Olazabal still waiting for his chance to putt and with the tie still very much alive.
