Can Liverpool Recall Nathaniel Clyne From Bournemouth?

Liverpool’s defensive woes got worse this morning as it was confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold would be ruled out for about a month with a new injury problem. The full-back was injured in the warm-up before the game v Brighton at the weekend but played the full 90 minutes. Now it has emerged that the Englishman suffered minor ligament damage that could see him miss the next month of football.

Liverpool fans were keen to point out the obvious on social media. Just a week earlier second-choice right-back Nathaniel Clyne as allowed to leave on loan to Bournemouth in a deal that baffled most fans at the time and now it is looking even more bizarre.

Apphcinno on Twitter said: “Loaning out Clyne at a time when Gomez/Matip were injured wasn't smart business.” whilst Hazic said: “Clyne's departure did not make sense. Yes, Milner can play there, but he's an asset in midfield. Camacho nowhere near ready.”

Amy Laurence said: “Clyne being loaned out is looking like not such a great move each day that passes.”

However, Colin McBride took a different stance: “Seriously, the Clyne takes are shocking. He started one game when the 3 ahead of him in RB pecking order were injured and once Milner was fit again, Clyne dropped out. You can't just keep players for freakish injury situations.”

This led many fans to question whether Clyne could be recalled so soon after he was loaned out and unfortunately for Jurgen Klopp the answer is no. The Mirror report that Bournemouth will keep Clyne at the club until the end of the season as part of the loan deal.
