Manchester United and Newcastle United head under the famous arch of Wembley this weekend for the Carabao Cup final.
Both teams have had impressive campaigns this season so far, setting up a blockbuster encounter in the capital. Ahead of Sunday’s showdown we’ve delved into the Betfred markets to see where the value is.
Match Result
Newcastle haven't beaten Man United since 2019 and have tasted defeat in four of their last six contests with the Red Devils. However, the Toon have picked up draws in the last two meetings and there’s no denying that they’re a team who are on the up - in fact, they’ve only been beaten three times in all competitions this season and two of those were against Liverpool.
This is shaping up to be an enthralling battle, but you have to favour United (6/5 to win inside 90 minutes and 4/7 to lift the trophy) who have momentum on their side with six wins from their last eight in all competitions, scoring 19 along the way. Newcastle are winless in their last three, all in the league, and it has seen them drop below Tottenham Hotspur to fifth in the table.

It’s clear that something incredible is happening in Newcastle right now and silverware will surely arrive at St James’ Park soon… we just don’t think it’ll be this weekend.
If you think we’re wrong, Newcastle are 12/5 to win inside 90 minutes and are 11/8 to lift the trophy
Goalscorers
Marcus Rashford has been in scintillating form this season and has scored 24 goals in all competitions; two more than his previous best ever scoring season in 2019/20. It’s a tough task trying to pick out a player performing at a higher level than the 25-year-old right now and he’s an attractive 6/5 to score anytime. He’s 3/1 to score first.
Loanee Wout Weghorst has been dealing with some harsh criticism recently, having scored just once since moving to Old Trafford. Pundit Richard Keys even suggested that United are playing with 10 men when the Dutchman is on the pitch. Well, the forward is 9/4 to prove the lord of banter and bad takes wrong, and score anytime on Sunday.
Elsewhere for the Red Devils, Anthony Martial is 13/8 to score anytime, while Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes are 9/4, 5/2 and 7/2 respectively.
Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson have been Newcastle’s leading men this term. The resurgent Almiron has scored more Premier League goals this season (10) than he has in his last four combined (9) and is 9/4 to get on the scoresheet at Wembley. Wilson on the other hand has seven and is 15/8 to score anytime for Eddie Howe’s men.
Bruno Guimares is expected to feature on Sunday and is 11/2 to score anytime, while Joelinton and Sean Longstaff, who both have a pair of goals each to their name in the Carabao Cup this season, are priced at 11/2 and 10/1.
Both Teams To Score
Across all competition, Man United have seen both teams score in six of their last ten matches, while Newcastle have seen the same in three of their last five. However, the two sides have only seen goals at both ends in one of their five previous League Cup games this season each.
Head-to-head, Man United and Newcastle have seen some high-scoring encounters in recent years with all but one of their last six meetings resulting in both teams scoring (the sides drew 0-0 in the Premier League in October).
