Football fans rejoice, we have a jam-packed night of Champions League football ahead of as Europe’s showcase spectacle makes its eagerly anticipated return!
The competition explodes back onto our TV screens earlier than usual due to the brand spanking new kick-off times, meaning a brace of games now take place at 5.55pm (BST), while the remaining six are scheduled for 8pm.
So, who is playing?
Mauricio Pochettino takes his Tottenham side to the San Siro where they lock horns with Inter Milan who return to the competition for the first time since 2011/12. Neither team is in particularly great form, but they each will be determined to kick-start their campaigns tonight.
In the other early fixture Barcelona will be looking to continue their 100% winning start to the new season at home to Dutch outfit PSV who are also in fine form, having recorded a 6-1 win over Willem II and 7-0 hammering of ADO Den Haag in their last two outings.
Fast-forward to 8pm and we are treated to the blockbuster battle between last season’s finalists, Liverpool, and French giants PSG, whose respective rip-roaring attacks promise to put on one hell of a show.
Monaco host Atletico Madrid in another cracking clash, whereas Borussia Dortmund travel to Club Brugge, Galatasaray welcome Lokomotiv Moscow, and Schalke do battle with FC Porto.
Finally, Carlo Ancelotti returns to European competition looking to win a fourth Champions League crown. Although before he begins to dream, his Napoli side will be bidding to get a result away to Red Star Belgrade, which could prove harder said than done.
