Chelsea are considering making a move for Leicester city goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
The Danish stopper is the latest name to be linked with the job at Stamford Bridge with Thibaut Courtois still a major doubt to remain at the club beyond this transfer window.
The Foxes goalkeeper was unable to keep Denmark in the World Cup on Sunday as they fell to an agonising penalty shootout defeat at the hands of Croatia but the 31-year-old certainly enhanced his star. The Premier League winner managed to save three spot kicks in the game as a total but in the end it wasn't enough and he could now have to decide his club future.
Roma are also reported to be interested in Schmeichel according to Sky Sources as speculation continues to swirl around their goalkeeper, Alisson.
A goalkeeper merry-go-round could well be about to swing into gear involving the likes of Schmeichel, Alisson and Courtois with a number of clubs swirling around three of the best in Europe.
Real Madrid continue to be linked with Alisson, who has also been on the shopping list of Liverpool for some time now and what happens to the Brazilian number one could spark moves for the likes of Courtois and Schmeichel.
The Danish goalkeeper was a rock solid part of the Leicester team which won the Premier League a few years back and he will surely be eager to test himself back at the top end of the table.
Uncertainty continues to be the buzz word at Chelsea with Antonio Conte technically still the Manager but Maurizio Sarri linked with arriving at the club. It would be a surprise if a move was made for any new players at this stage with one Italian coach set to go out, and one to come in according to a host of news reports.
Losing Courtois would be a major blow for whoever is in the hot seat at Stamford Bridge but Kasper Schmeichel could well be a solid replacement as the Blues look to fight their way back into the top four.
