Chelsea Now Odds On To Sign Bournemouth Star After Cherries Snaffle Liverpool Forward

The January Transfer Window is just a few days old but Chelsea have been at the forefront of all of the big transfer news so far and they are odds-on to add another striker to their ranks.

The Blues have already announced the signing of Christian Pulisic, who will join from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, and they appear to be closing in on the signing of Gonzalo Higuain, while they are now odds-on with bookmakers to sign Callum Wilson from Bournemouth.

Firstly, the potential signing of Higuain appears to make complete sense for the Blues as they are the lowest scorers of the traditional 'Big Six' teams in the Premier League this season, notching just 38 goals in their 21 games so far.

Maurizio Sarri has become increasingly frustrated with his team's efforts in front of goal as their early-season title hopes have dissipated off the back of Alvaro Morata's poor form and the manager will be pleased to link up again with Higuain, who scored 38 goals in 42 games during his time with Sarri at Napoli in Serie A.

However, Higuain is 31 years old and may be no more than a stop-gap until the end of the season, which ensures Chelsea need a long-term solution to their goalscoring woes and Callum Wilson might be that man.

Bournemouth's signing of another striker, Dominic Solanke from Liverpool for £19m, on Friday has had an impact on the odds of Wilson making a move to Stamford Bridge as he is now odds-on (10/11 with William Hill) to sign for Chelsea before 1st February 2019.

The Cherries would be loath to lose Wlison as the 26-year-old has scored nine goals and laid on six assists in his 20 Premier League appearances this term, although it would be very difficult for Eddie Howe to stand in the way of the England forward, particularly if Chelsea make a serious offer for the player.

Wilson has had his problems with knee injuries but he appears to be reaching his peak now and he clearly has an eye for goal, even if he needs a few chances to find the net. Wilson gets in the right positions and he would be an ideal addition to this Chelsea squad

It remains to be seen if a deal can be struck but the bookmakers think there might be something in the pipeline...
