Some of the third kits we've seen this season have been by far and away the most radical of recent years.
Manchester City's newly released purple and orange kit - which has been described by some as looking like the wrapper of a Cadburys Double Decker - was a bit of a stunner. Then there was the Atletico Madrid third kit which looked like something that the Miami Dolphins might turn out in. And of course there was the Tottenham Hotspur 'jade' kit which divided opinion.
Nike have produced another eye-catching design for Chelsea which was released today. The shiny-looking silver grey kit has a sublimated map effect which looks a bit like the wallpaper you might see in a beauty parlour. It completes the Chelsea set for this season which includes a sharp blue number with red and white effects and a bold yellow deisgn.
The new silver kit is complemented by teal shorts and bright orange socks which may remind you of a grey/orange kit by Umbro which Chelsea wore between 1994 and 1996. Officially described back then as "graphite and tangerine", it was worn by the likes of Glenn Hoddle and it was also the first worn by Ruud Gullit as a Chelsea player.
NikeConnect technology is featured on a football shirt for the first time and will be worn during the club’s European campaign this season. This enables fans to access exclusive experiences and competitions through the Nike app by connecting with the logo on the shirt label. It is a technology previously used in the NBA.
