Chelsea have been dealt a major injury blow with the news that star man Eden Hazard will be out with a back injury for their Europa League tie against BATE Borisov.

At this stage it's hard to tell whether Hazard will be back for the weekend's Premier League game at Burnley but having enjoyed such an amazing start to the season, Hazard will be a big miss. He suffered the injury during Chelsea's dramatic 2-2 draw with Manchester United on Saturday.

Maurizio Sarri confirmed to reporters at his press conference today that Hazard was missing. The Italian boss said: "He’s out. He’s got a back problem. We’re trying to solve the problem for Sunday. Ampadu is also out."

Sarri added: "These two matches in Europe have been difficult. They’ve not been easy. We have to prepare our minds to play another difficult match."

There is also a chance that Jorginho will be out of Sunday's game in East Lancashire. Sarri explained: "I don’t know. We have to play after five days from the last match. The problem will be on Sunday as we have to play after 65 hours. We have to change something. Jorginho needs to rest now."

Sarri however was delighted that Marcos Alonso has today signed a new deal to stay at Stamford Bridge, ending speculation that he may move to Real Madrid in the summer.

"I’m very happy for him," said Sarri. "He can be the best left-back in Europe. He needs to improve in the defensive phase as he played in a five more, now he plays in a four. If he can improve he can be the best left-back in Europe."
