Chelsea’s World Cup winning midfielder N’Golo Kante was in touch with PSG over a potential move to the French champions over the summer, the player himself has confirmed.
The 27-year-old, though, was not swayed toward a move back to his homeland in the aftermath of his nation’s victory in Russia.
"There was no particular desire to go somewhere after the World Cup," Kante told RMC Sport. "There was interest from other clubs, but things were clear after speaking with Chelsea -- the club is counting on me and I feel good.
"The next logical step was to continue with Chelsea. There was some contact with PSG, yes. However, after a discussion with Chelsea, I realised that the main thing for me was to feel good where I was then and am now.
"I am with Chelsea -- staying with Chelsea is good for me."
Kante’s response to the overtures of the continental giants will surely have come as a blessed relief to the Chelsea board, who endured a difficult summer as the contract saga over the axing of former boss Antonio Conte dragged on and was followed by another over the releasing of new boss Maurizio Sarri from his commitments at Napoli.
The £32m singing has won two Premier Leagues since his arrival in England, the first of those with Leicester City in what was his first season with the club. He was awarded the Premier League Player of the season gong for his performances in that season, the 2016-17 campaign, showings that also earned him his move south to London.
The usually goal-shy Kante even popped up with a goal this season against Huddersfield, having been deployed in a more advanced midfield role in the Chelsea midfield this term.
