Graham Potter’s start to life as Chelsea manager has been interesting. He got the job just under a month ago, but due to Queen Elizabeth II’s death and the international break, we’ve only seen his side in action twice. The first was a 1-1 draw in the Champions League against RB Leipzig, before Conor Gallagher struck a late winner against Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
Tonight Chelsea return to European duties as Serie A champions AC Milan visit Stamford Bridge in a vital Group E clash. Given Stefano Pioli’s team have picked up four points from their two games and sit top of the group, it is perhaps a surprise that Chelsea are 8/11 favourites for this clash with Betfred.
Sitting bottom of the group with just one point so far, this is a must win match for the Blues and Potter will know the importance as we approach matchday three. The unpredictability of his team selection means there could be some value in the goalscoring market, while it should also cause Milan problems.

Against RB Leipzig he set up in the 5-3-2 system we saw at Brighton, with Raheem Sterling deployed as an attacking left wing-back. However, at Palace, he favoured the narrow 4-2-2-2 formation, with Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang the attacking outlets. Supported by Kai Havertz and Mason Mount, the fluid front four showed signs of promise.
If this is the system that Potter goes with again, it allows Chelsea to maximise their attacking talents. On that note, Aubameyang, who got off the mark for his new side at the weekend, is 4/1 to score first, with Betfred’s Double Delight and Hat-Trick Heaven offer making those odds even more generous. Meanwhile, Sterling is 11/2, Havertz is 6/1 and Mount provides great value at 10/1.
For the visitors the value is even better. Rafael Leao has been in sparkling form so far this season with four goals and four assists in the league. He is 7/2 to score anytime, 10/1 to score first or 40/1 to score two or more goals. Chelsea have been loosely linked with signing him and Potter has heaped praise on the winger, so he will want to impress.
Elsewhere, a smart shout looks to be BTTS to score at 4/ 5. Chelsea have been BTTS in five of their last six games including both of Potter’s games in charge, while both teams have scored in each of the last six AC Milan matches. The match to be drawn and BTTS is 4/1.
With their attacking threat, it seems likely that Milan will score. If you fancy them to do that in both halves of the game you can get 5/1. The full-time result is difficult to determine so we’d go for a score draw, perhaps going for a 2-2 at 14/1 if pushed.
