Chelsea's Tiemoue Bakayoko Joins AC Milan On Loan Deal With Option To Buy

Chelsea's Tiemoue Bakayoko has signed for Serie A side AC Milan on loan.

The Italian club will have the option to buy the player for around £36million at the end of the season according to Sky Sports in Italy.

Chelsea impressively opened their Premier League campaign with a convincing 3-0 win at Huddersfield on Saturday. New boss Maurizio Sarri was happy with what he saw as his new-look side showed up the Terriers.

On Friday, Sarri told the former Monaco player Tiemoue Bakayoko that he didn't feature in his future plans sparking talk of a move to Serie A.

Now the deal is set to go through for a player who cost the Blues £40million from Monaco only last year. Bakayoko made 25 appearances for Chelsea last season but the feeling was that he never really settled. With Antonio Conte gone, he had been looking to impress new boss Sarri but now he won't get that opportunity.

Bakayoko was missing for Chelsea in last Sunday's Community Shield loss to Manchester City at Wembley Stadium. But Ruben Loftus-Cheek looks to have put himself front and centre of Sarri's thinking after impressing for England at the World Cup. Crystal Palace had hoped to take the player on loan again for the new season but Chelsea were keen to retain him.

With new signing Jorginho making an instant impact on his debut against Huddersfield, Bakayoko finds himself on the outer again and the move to Serie A has not come as a surprise.
