Day two could not have been more different to day one in terms of conditions at Cheltenham as the blissful blue skies made way for driving rain, but it didn’t stop the action. Punters may have been soaked in rain, but they were also given a few reasons to be cheerful at the famous track. Here’s how day two unfolded.
1.30 Ballymore Novices Chase
If the crowd needed one thing to cheer them up early on, it was a well-backed favourite to come home in first and that is exactly what Sir Gerhard delivered. Willie Mullins got his 80th win of the Festival as Paul Townend rode a perfect ride, striking with just two fences to go.

2.10 Brown Advisory Novices Chase
Another favourite, another winner! L'Homme Presse jumped perfectly from the front to hold off Ahoy Senor, who jumped terribly but somehow was still in contention in the final furlong. However, this was a first grade 1 win for Charlie Deutsch, and a truly special moment for both horse and jockey.

2.50 Coral Cup
An outsider winner! Commander of Fleet battled his way up the hill and went toe-to-toe with Fastorslow, just pipping him at the post. Ashdale Bob had run a fantastic race and led from the front but just ran out of steam in the final furlong. The bookies bit back in the Coral Cup.

2nd - Fastorslow (18/1)

3.30 Champions Chase
All eyes were on the favourite Shishkin ahead of the Champions Chase but he just would not get going under Nico de Boinville who ended up pulling him up midway through the race. He jumped poorly and went to the back of the field, while second favourite Energumene charged forward to take advantage and secure a historic win.
Cheltenham 3.30 results
1st - Energumene (5/2)
2nd - Funambule Sivola (40/1)
3rd - Envoi Allen (10/1)
4.10 Cross Country Chase
The whole sporting world was willing Tiger Roll on and he ran an amazing race to lead heading into the final furlong, but he was just eclipsed by stablemate Delta Work at the finish. It was a Gigginstown one-two, but Tiger Roll would have been the most popular winner of the Festival. If this is how he bows out, he put in another vintage display.
Cheltenham 4.10 results
1st - Delta Work (5/1 fav)
2nd - Tiger Roll (3/1)
3rd - Plan of Attack (25/1)
4th - Diesel D’Allier (12/1)
5th - Mitchouka (150/1)
4.50 Grand Annual Chase
It was an enthralling Grand Annual Chase which finished with 28/1 shot Global Citizen jumping perfectly to come home in first, three lengths clear of the favourite Andy Dufresne who tried to close the gap but couldn’t make up the difference. The ten-year-old has had a tricky 18 months but put those poor runs behind him to take a huge victory, with Keilan Woods on board.

2nd - Andy Dufresne (10/3 fav)

5.30 Champion Bumper
After a delay to the start due to the soggy conditions, it was fairly straightforward for the favourite as Facile Vega romped home, with American Mike following the winner in second. Willie Mullins was always likely to get the winner in this one and it was his favourite pick that got the job done.
1st - Facile Vega (15/8 fav)
2nd - American Mike (5/2)
3rd - Redemption Day (7/1)
4th - Madmansgame (10/1)
