The Cheltenham Festival is almost upon us! The beating heart of the racing calendar, this four-day event plays host to the best jump action in the world. From the extraordinary winners and losers to the world famous 'Cheltenham roar’, the greatest show on turf never fails to disappoint.
On Sunday, Betfred TV’s Mark Pearson previewed this year’s Cheltenham programme alongside Tom Lee and DJ Joel Ross.
Plenty of attention was given to Tuesday’s opener - the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, which Pearson describes as ‘an absolute cracker’ of a curtain raiser, with the likes of Constitution Hill, Jonbon and Dysart Dynamo all in action.
It’s a stunning start to a phenomenal four days of racing, and that famous roar from the Prestbury Park spectators will be louder than ever as it has been two years since patrons enjoyed a Festival on the course. Tom Lee, looking forward to the return of those crowds, believes ‘it will be Cheltenham on steroids.’
Elsewhere, top Irish amateur Jamie Codd, he of ten Festival winners and counting, spoke to the guys and sung the praises of the darling of all Ireland, Honeysuckle, while former Love Island contestant Frankie Foster, who’ll be making a number of appearances across the Festival, popped by to say hello.
Meanwhile, Emma Lavelle spoke warmly about her widely-admired Stayers’ Hurdle hero Paisley Park, and there was a lot of chatter concerning the Champion Bumper.
Joel Ross gave up one of his strongest fancies of the week, which runs in the ultra-competitive Coral Cup, while Tom Lee gave a strong mention to an Irish raider he likes for the Stayers.
