Cracksman: A Chance To Crown A Champion, And Establish Frankel As The Next Super-Sire

In 2012 Frankel forged clear in the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot, in his eleven-length romp he quickly established himself as one of greatest racehorses of all time in what could’ve been the very best performance in the meeting’s rich and illustrious history.

It’s six years on and Frankel has a chance to once again make the headlines, as his son Cracksman aims to land one of the most prestigious races in the British flat racing calendar, the Prince Of Wales Stakes. This is a horse that just cannot stay away from the headlines, even when he retires.

Cracksman is already the best of his best of his prodigy, already a superbly impressive Group One winner of the Champion Stakes and Coronation Cup and of course placed in the English and Irish Derby. This however, would be a victory that really rubber-stamps his place at the pinnacle of flat racing, and Frankel will reap the rewards.

Yesterday Without Parole became Frankel’s second Group One winning prodigy, a game and tough performance from Frankie Dettori emulated just like his sire did in 2011. What Frankel brings to the breeding world is more than just huge talent, but battling qualities and horses with huge desire.

Frankel is already one of the leading sires in the business with countless talented horses, including Eminent, Nelson, Elarqam and Rostropovich and a plethora of juvenile talent. Although surprisingly not one of Frankel’s many two-year-olds have made it to Royal Ascot.

Frankel’s sire Galileo is the king of the stallion, with countless classic and Group One wins to his name and now his best prodigy is hoping to take the crown from his elder and slowly but surely Frankel is walking into the huge footsteps Galileo has left in the industry, his price tag of  £175,000 to breed with is only evidence to the huge qualities he brings to the racing world. Of course Cracksman and Without Parole alone is not enough, he needs regular Group One winners and probably one or two more before the end of the year to really stamp his place at the top of the breeding ranks, however the ammunition is coming and should be top-class.

Take nothing away from either. For Cracksman, a strong winning performance would re-establish him as the best horse in Europe and once again put Frankel in the headlines for a second successive. The pair have an immensely exciting future ahead of them.
