Cristiano Ronaldo has reached a new milestone in his illustrious career after he blasted home his 650th career goal, yes 650th, during Sunday’s 1-1 draw in the Madrid derby.
The goal, which was Ronaldo’s 20th in 10 games, meant that the Real Madrid superstar has now subsequently found the back of the net in his last 10 consecutive matches in all competitions, which is an achievement in itself.
The landmark goal came in the 53rd minute of Real’s clash at home to fierce rivals Atletico, as Ronaldo volleyed home from a Gareth Bale cross to put his beloved Los Blancos 1-0 up.
The strike meant that he’s now bagged 40+ Real Madrid goals in all competitions for the eighth successive season. Simply incredible numbers.
While Ronaldo’s goal will dominate the headlines, Real were denied the spoils as Antoine Griezmann grabbed an equaliser shortly after, with the game then ending 1-1. The result means that Atletico stay in 2nd, 11 points adrift of leaders Barcelona, while Real are four points behind their city rivals in 3rd place with seven games to go.
Here’s a quick breakdown of Ronaldo’s 650 goals...he’s notched five for Sporting Lisbon, 118 for Manchester United, 446 and counting for current club Real Madrid, and then let’s not forget the 81 he’s smashed home for his country.
The 33-year-old goal machine has accumulated a whopping 50 hat-tricks and 116 braces, while he has his fair share of assists to, 221 to be precise.
We’ve got a feeling it won’t take him long to propel his goalscoring tally up to the big 700!
