Danny Rose has come out fighting after Tottenham reached the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup with a 2-0 win over arch-rivals Arsenal at the Emirates. Goals from Heung-Son MIn and Dele Alli were enough to see Spurs through to the semi-finals where they will face Chelsea.
Rose has said the victory was ‘karma’ after how the Arsenal players reacted when they beat Spurs 4-2 earlier in the month:
“Our only motivation this was remembering the nonsense that Arsenal posted after the game a few weeks ago. That was our motivation.
“Players that have only played ten games for Arsenal were getting ahead of themselves. We used that in a positive way. Karma…. you know? They fully deserve what they got, Arsenal.”
Rose went on to say that the players needed no extra motivation after the painful defeat to the Gunners just weeks ago:
“We had the motivation of getting to the semi-final so we’re over the moon that we’re in the semis. But the cherry on top was silencing them.
“Just remember, they won a game at the beginning of December and they’re celebrating like they won the league.
“We’re over the moon we’ve put that result right. We’ll see where they are come the end of the season and we’ll see where we are.”
Things are looking good for Spurs. They are currently third in the Premier League, five points ahead of Arsenal and they face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League whilst Arsenal are up against BATE Borisov. They also have that League Cup semi-final to look forward to as they look to end their trophy drought.
