David O'Meara Runner Can Tame Opposition At Lingfield

A bumper weekend of racing at Lingfield, the highlight of which will be tomorrow’s Winter Derby, starts this afternoon.

Our sole tip for today comes there in the 15:50 - Play Starburst Slot At Sunbets.co.uk/vegas Handicap, a Class 3 affair over 7 furlongs.

Exchequer is the one we want to be with, he's a horse that has been in good form on the all-weather since switching to David O’Meara’s yard following a long layoff.

Three respectable placed efforts were followed up by an underwhelming one at Wolves last time, for which he had a few get-outs.

Off the back of that dip in form he’s been dropped 2lbs pounds in the handicap to a mark of 83 and that’s one that he’s very, very capable off.

This 7-year-old chestnut has course form figures that read: (1122). Those efforts included a win off of 90 and a second off 92 and, given that he’s still in good heart, he’s handicapped to go well here.

Lingfield is a notoriously tight track and his draw in 1 will be of great advantage, particularly in a big-field affair like this. If Kieran Shoemark can get out in front and get his mount into a nice rhythm, it’s difficult to see him not finishing in the places.

Double-figure odds about his chances seem remarkably generous and we’re keen to take a strong interest while they’re still being offered.

An extra place is being offered by a 'book or two and that is worth seeking out.

All going well, Exchequer can get our weekend off to a flying start in Surrey later this afternoon.
