Manchester United conjured up arguably the most important win of Jose Mourinho’s Old Trafford tenure as they came from behind to stun Champions League favourites Juventus in Italy.
Man Utd headed into the crunch clash looking to record a shock win in Turin, but with the odds stacked against Mourinho’s men, few expected the Premier League side to return home with a result of any sort.
The club's task was made all the more difficult after they fell behind to a cracking strike from their former star Cristiano Ronaldo who gave the hosts the lead with 25 minutes left on the clock, before unleashing his famous six-pack in celebration.
However, the away side refused to cave in, and instead mounted up yet another Autumn comeback, as Juan Mata equalised with a dazzling free-kick with four minutes left on the clock, before Lobo Silva put it past his own keeper four minutes later to hand the visitors a sensational smash-and-grab win.
A defiant Mourinho took the opportunity to taunt Juventus fans, as he cupped his hand to his ear and snarled in their direction.
It was remarkably only the second time that Juventus had lost a home group stage Champions League match since United's win back in 2003, while they are now the only club to beat Juventus away three times in the competition.
The triumph propelled United's points tally to seven, two points off leaders Juventus, while Valencia have five points to their name following their victory over Young Boys earlier on the night.
Next up for United is Young Boys at Old Trafford at the end of the month, while their final match is away to Valencia in December, in a match which could well decide which team progresses through the knockout stages of the competition.
He's enjoyed that one A LOT! 🤫
