''Don't Deserve To Wear The Shirt!'' Liverpool Fans Pick On Scapegoat As Manchester City Ignite Title Race

Liverpool fans have vented their frustration on Twitter after losing their unbeaten run in the Premier League to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side. City have now cut the gap to just four points at the top of the table and we now have a serious title race on our hands.

The game was played in frenetic fashion and was a brilliant advert for the Premier League as both sides played some brilliant attacking football at an enthralling pace. Sergio Aguero fired Man City into the lead from a ridiculous angle but that was after Liverpool were 11mm away from taking the lead, after a mix-up between John Stones and Ederson.

Liverpool equalised after the break in style. Trent Alexander-Arnold pinged a wonderful ball across to his opposite full-back Andy Robertson who had snuck in at the back post. The left-back played a ball back across goal on the volley and the cross was headed in by Roberto Firmino, sending the away end wild.

The lead was re-established when it looked like Liverpool could assert their dominance on the game. The Reds were hit with a quick counter-attack as Raheem Sterling played in Leroy Sane, who thumped the ball in off the far post.

Liverpool went long in desperation in the final few moments but they were unable to bag that all-important equaliser. One long ball from Dejan Lovren drove Virgil Van Dijk to the brink and it appears the Liverpool fans were not too keen on his performance either. See below some of the reaction to Liverpool's first defeat of the season.
