England fans are less than pleased with the news that Wayne Rooney will return to the squad for a one-off game, a friendly against the USA this month. Rooney, England’s top ever goalscorer, will once again train and play for England in what is set to be his very final appearance in a Three Lions shirt.

The friendly v USA this month is set to raise money for charity and should be his final farewell. Rooney now plays in the MLS for DC United and although he has been in good form since his move to the United States, many England fans are thinking along the same lines when it comes to his recall.

The 33-year-old is certainly at the end of his career and England supporters would much prefer to see an untried forward in the squad in his place. Callum Wilson of Bournemouth has been pushing for an England call-up and is in flying form this season.

He has now hit six goals this season including his latest strike against Manchester United and is a surprise contender for the Golden Boot. Only Eden Hazard and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have scored more goals than the English forward in the Premier League this season.

England fans are desperate to see the pacey forward in Gareth Southgate’s squad that is announced on Thursday. They have taken to social media to voice their complaints and there will be fury if Callum Wilson misses out on this squad because of the returning Wayne Rooney.
