England Pair Have A Mare In Front Of Goal On Soccer AM

Footballers Toni Duggan and Lucy Bronze had a nightmare on their Soccer AM appearance today.

Barcelona's Duggan blazed her effort miles over the bar to her obvious embarrassment while Bronze barely connected with the ball and ended up falling on the floor.

Both players took their failures in good humour and sportingly laughed off their poor form in front of goal. Soccer AM co-host Jimmy Bullard offered a hug of consolation but social media - as you might expect - wasn't as forgiving and the reaction was not so sympathetic.

Comments on Twitter ranged from a simple "shocking" to more cringey comments which belong somewhere in the 1960s which we won't dignify by repeating here. There were plenty of replies sticking up for the pair, many posing clips of male footballers experiencing similar moments when wayward shots left them wanting the earth to swallow them up there and then.

Liverpool-born Duggan enjoyed spells with both Everton and Manchester City before joining Barcelona last year and has represented England at under 17, under 19, under 20 and under 23 level as well as earned 60 full caps, scoring 22 goals.

Bronze also spent time at Manchester City and Everton before joining her current club Lyon last year. The 27-year-old started her career with Sunderland in 2007 and has gone on to play for England 60 times, netting seven times.

Undoubtedly talented players who have achieved great things in the game, they will want to forget these shocking efforts which won't make their showreels.
