Manchester United’s quest for Europa League glory will pit them up against AC Milan in the last sixteen as two giants of European football collide and Zlatan Ibrahimovic returns to Old Trafford for the first leg.
United progressed to the last sixteen after a thumping away performance over Real Sociedad gave them a 4-0 lead heading into the second leg, which ended 0-0. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping Bruno Fernandes and the rest of his side can get the job done against the side second in Serie A as he targets his first trophy in charge of the Red Devils.
Meanwhile Arsenal, who played out an absolute thriller with Benfica, coming from behind to beat them 4-3 on aggregate thanks to a late goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, face a tricky test against Olympiacos, playing the first leg away from home. For the Gunners, who currently sit in the bottom half of the Premier League, this competition presents the only real opportunity of Champions League football next term so they will be sending out a strong side yet again.
Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur will face Dinamo Zagreb having made light work of Wolfsberger in the last round. Dele Alli starred in the second leg, scoring a fantastic overhead kick, while Gareth Bale also seems to be working his way back to full fitness in this competition. Mourinho will be hoping for more of the same in the last 16, as they play the first leg away from home.
Rangers, who thrilled us all with their incredible 9-5 aggregate win against Royal Antwerp will be hoping for more European joy under Steven Gerrard as they face Slavia Prague. Ryan Kent starred over the two legs and Gers fans will be hoping for more of the same from their attackers, who caused havoc against the Belgian side. They will play the second leg at Ibrox.
So Slavia Prague’s reward for knocking out Premier League side Leicester City 2-0 in the last round is a tie against another British side while elsewhere Ajax will play Young Boys, Roma take on Shakhtar Donetsk and Granada who knocked out Napoli, will take on Molde.
Manchester United are currently 5/2 favourites with Betfred to win the competition, while Spurs are 9/2, Arsenal 7/1 and Rangers 16/1.
