Everton have reportedly moved toward the head of the queue to sign the Brazilian winger Malcom from Bordeaux.
The 21-year-old, a fleet-footed attacker, has attracted interest from a host of European clubs since his arrival in Ligue 1 from Corinthians in 2016.
Arsenal and Tottenham have both been linked with moves for the player in the past, while Inter Milan have already made a concrete bid this summer according to reports.
But it’s now Marco Silva’s Everton who look favourites to land his coveted signature, with the Merseyside club holding talks late last night with the French club.
The Telegraph reports that they’ve offered a £30M transfer fee and can offer him £80,000 per week in wages.
A player that has scored 20 goals in 80 games at Bordeaux would add a goal threat from a wide position as the club’s director of football Marcel Brands continues his summer overhaul.
The recently returned prodigal son of the Toffee’s, Wayne Rooney, was one of those to find himself swept away in a clearout and has made a transatlantic move.
The 32-year-old has recently said that he didn’t want to feel like a burden and his boyhood club and made a switch the MLS and DC United.
The former Manchester United striker made his debut for his new side off the bench and was involved in two goals as they saw off Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1.
“I understand they have brought a new manager in, got new staff, they obviously want to bring in players that manager wants,” he said.
“I said to them if that is what you want, I am not going to hang round and be a dead weight. I will go somewhere else and play."
